Watch the replay of our recent webinar: Understanding The Advanced Intestinal Barrier Assessment: Identifying Gut Destruction
Imbalances in Diamine Oxidase (DAO), Histamine, Zonulin and Lipopolysaccharides (LPS) are associated with intestinal permeability (IP), often referred to as, “leaky gut.”
The Advanced Intestinal Barrier Assessment is a superior IP test, identifying mucosal barrier injury using these analyte imbalances from a single serum sample.
This webinar reviews the interplay between complement activated food reactions, DAO the enzyme that degrades histamine, Zonulin a regulator of tight junctions and LPS a gram-negative bacterial endotoxin considered a powerful mediator of systemic inflammation. We will explore IP as a driver of autoimmunity, systemic inflammation and associated disorders.
Dr Burdette will discuss common causes of gut lining damage, IP development and how the gut is our window to illness prevention and remission. By addressing the triggers of histamine, LPS and food sensitivities, as well as the body’s ability to handle the assault, through enzymes such as DAO, we can halt inflammation, reverse IP and truly practice healthcare.
Learning objectives:
1. We will review the literature and data around direct markers of leaky gut and understand what clinical conditions are most relevant in terms of assessment.
2. We will look at and define the role of gut-based inflammation in pathologies that extend beyond the gut such as auto-immunity and mental emotional disorders.
3. We will examine effective gut-based interventions.
