Description
RANTES (Regulated And Normal T cell Expressed and Secreted) is a chemokine with chemotactic unction. This means that it induces the attraction of NK cells, granulocytes, monocytes, and macrophages into an existing inflammatory area. RANTES is therefore involved with many diseases that entail inflammatory processes. RANTES, along with interleukin-2 (IL-2) and interferon gamma (IFN-y), causes the activation of NK cells and stimulates their proliferation.
