Nutrition Urine Turn Around Time: 12 Days
Turn Around Time: 12 Days

Description

This urinary test measures fluoride, which can potentially be neurotoxic, compromise bone integrity and interfere with iodide metabolism at high doses or with prolonged lower level exposure.

Methodology

Fluoride in urine is measured using an ion specific electrode.

When should I use

Fluoride exposure can be from drinking water, beverages, toothpaste, refrigerants and non-stick coatings as well as many prescription drugs including some anaesthetics, antibiotics, antidepressants, chemotherapeutics, corticosteroids, asthma, allergy medications and antifungals. It may also be associated with dental fluorosis, osteomalacia, ligament calcification, hypocalcaemia, arrhythmias, neurotoxicity, headaches, vertigo, thyroid dysfunction and anaemia.
