Description

This is a test to measure the sensitivity of lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell) to various viruses. The test looks for antibodies to several different viruses including Epstein Barr virus, Varicella zoster virus, Cytomegalovirus, Herpes simplex virus 1/2, Human herpesvirus 6, and Parvovirus, Step Ab. The presence of these antibodies can indicate a past or current infection with these viruses. Requires a venous blood draw and centrifugation of the blood sample.

Methodology

Serology immuno fluorescence is a laboratory technique used to detect and measure the presence of specific antibodies or antigens in a patient's blood sample. This technique involves using fluorescent dyes to label the antibodies or antigens, which can then be visualized under a microscope. It is commonly used in the diagnosis of infectious diseases, autoimmune disorders, and other conditions that involve the immune system.
