P88 Dietary Antigen Test (Serum)

The Essentials Blood (Venous) Turn Around Time: 21 Days
Recommended: Contact practitioner before placing order
Turn Around Time: 21 Days

Description

The P88 Dietary Antigen Test (serum) measures IgE, IgG4, IgG and complement (C3d) reactions to 88 commonly eaten foods.

This test analyses the serum levels of IgE antibodies (the most known food allergy response) for 88 different food antigens. It also measures IgG4, a subclass of IgG, which is indicative of immune tolerance as IgG4 can block IgE antibodies from binding to receptor sites and releasing histamine.

P88 also measures IgG antibodies which mediate delayed allergic response with immune complexes. Within an immune complex, the complement component 3 (C3) is converted into C3d, an activator of the complement cascade. Complement activation is well-defined in the research as one of the strongest causes of inflammatory food reactions. P88 Dietary Antigen test is unique in that it detects multiple classes of IgG (types I, II, III and IV) and complement which results in a higher sensitivity.

ELISA

When should I use

If the patient is taking steroids, immunosuppressant medications or other medications that may suppress antibodies please check if it is appropriate for them to test.

Precision Point Diagnostic’s P88 Dietary Antigen test helps you identify and address food allergies and food sensitivities in patients with chronic illness.
Overt IgE-mediated food allergies usually occur immediately and can create severe symptoms, such as:
Swelling
Hives
Itching
Anaphylaxis
Even though IgE reactions are immediate, the allergic potential of food-based allergens can remain in your system 1-2 days after ingestion, extending the presence of symptoms during this duration and milder IgE responses may contribute to many symptoms including digestive issues.

IgG reactions may be less severe than with IgE allergic reaction and can manifest anywhere from 3-72 hours after exposure.
IgG reactions create inflammation that makes many pathologies worse.
Common food sensitivity symptoms include:
Diarrhoea or loose stool
Constipation
Gas or bloating
Heartburn
Rashes, eczema, or swelling
Joint pain or inflammation
Headaches or migraine
Congestion or runny nose
Sinus infections
Acne
Exacerbation of Autistic traits
Irritable bowel syndrome
Fatigue or poor sleep
Depression
Poor immune defences
Malabsorption of vitamins and minerals

Better Patient Outcomes

P88 Dietary Antigen Test results can lead to more precise treatment plans and better patient outcomes. Studies show that patients given an elimination diet based on the results of the P88 food allergy and sensitivity testing experienced fewer headaches and less abdominal pain, diarrhoea, constipation, and bloating. Knowing exactly what foods your patient reacts to can help to avoid unnecessarily restrictive diets and treatment protocols that inadvertently expose your patient to his or her reactive foods.

The P88 Dietary Antigen Test interpretive report includes more restrictive and less restrictive elimination diets as well as an analysis of immune reactions by food groups. This customized report not only helps the clinician use at-a-glance results in clinical practice but also better ensure patient compliance.

The P88 Dietary Antigen Test can spotlight the dietary components interfering with your patients’ healing. It is the missing piece of the puzzle and can lead to the resolution of previously resistant health problems.
