SIBO Glucose

The Essentials Breath Turn Around Time: 12 Days
Turn Around Time: 12 Days

Description

The 3-hour glucose SIBO breath test measures hydrogen (H2) and methane (CH4) gas levels in response to ingesting glucose. Both hydrogen and methane are expelled during respiration making breath testing a non-invasive way of identifying SIBO.
Thorough test preparation as per instructions is crucial to test outcome viability.
Breath samples are collected every 20 minutes for 3 hours (1 baseline/control sample & 9 breath samples after ingesting the glucose solution)
If SIBO is present, bacteria will metabolise glucose within the small intestine resulting in an early increase in gas production.
Carbon Dioxide is measured as a means of ensuring sample viability.

Methodology

QuinTron is the premiere manufacturer of industry-leading breath analyzers measuring Hydrogen, Methane and Carbon Dioxide using state-of-the-art solid-state sensors and patented breath collection systems/kits.

When should I use

Client presents gastric symptoms such as diarrhoea, constipation, bloating, cramping, nausea, reflux, flatulence and belching.
Consider SIBO risk factors including, food poisoning, repeated antibiotic use, proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), hypochloridia , pancreatitis, diabetic neuropathy, migrating motor complex (MMC) impairment, gastroenteritis, motility disorders, Crohn's Disease, IBS and Coeliac Disease.
