Description
DUTCH Complete provides a comprehensive assessment of 35 different sex and adrenal hormones, including oestrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA and cortisol along with their metabolites. It also measures daily free cortisol and cortisone patterns, the oxidative stress marker 8-OHdG, melatonin and nine organic acids including markers for vitamin B12 (methylmalonate), vitamin B6 (kynurenate and xanthurenate), biotin (β-hydroxyisovalerate), glutathione (pyroglutamate), dopamine (homovanillate), norepinephrine/epinephrine (vanilmandelate), neuroinflammation (quinolinate) and tryptophan putrefaction (indican).
Methodology
Cortisol, cortisone, 8-OHdG, melatonin (6-OHMS), organic acid tests and metabolites related to cortisol are tested by LC-MS/MS. The remaining hormones are tested by GC-MS/MS.
When should I use
DUTCH Complete can help identify the root causes of sex hormone and adrenal imbalances in both women and men. It can provide insights into conditions such as premenstrual syndrome, PMDD, PCOS, menopause, infertility, weight gain, fatigue, low libido, sleep issues and mood disorders in women. As well as infertility, weight gain, fatigue, low libido, sleep issues, mood disorders and prostate issues in men. Additionally, the test can be used to gather baseline measurements for the administration and monitoring of hormone replacement therapy.
Other Details
DUTCH Complete provides a unique assessment of sex and adrenal hormones by assessing dried urine. Urine has several advantages over both serum and saliva. It allows more effective assessment of free cortisol than serum as well as extensive metabolite testing (especially for oestrogens and cortisol). While the free cortisol pattern in saliva has clinical value, measuring cortisol metabolites in urine adds a significant missing piece, for example when cortisol clearance is abnormally high or low. Measuring oestrogen and androgen metabolites, possible in urine, gives a fuller picture for more precise clinical assessment of hormonal imbalances and (B)HRT monitoring.
Combining both sex and adrenal assessment with relevant organic acids for nutrients, neurotransmitters and detoxification as well melatonin and 8-OHdg gives further insight as to how best support the patient.
