The laboratory extracts DNA, quantifies the DNA, and identifies methylated sites using bisulfite conversion.
The DNA is then fragmented, amplified and resuspended.
Illumina BeadChips, with silica beads, bind to specific DNA fragments where a single nucleotide is added. An antibody designed to bind to the stain attaches to that nucleotide.

Over 850,000 CpG sites (spots where methylation can occur) are scanned. The
beta values of these CpGs, are then run through specialist algorithms to sort them and create an age value that reflects those patterns. This then provides the personal age, impact, and risk readouts presented in the patient’s reports.
